Privacy policy
This is a personal fundraising and storytelling site, not a data business. This page is a plain-language account of what actually happens with your data here — not a template, and not legal advice.
What this site collects
- Comments & guestbook messages. The name and message you submit are stored in this site's database and shown publicly once approved. Approved comments may also be mirrored to a private GitHub issue, purely as a moderation log.
- Theme preference. Your light/dark choice is saved in your browser's own
localStorage— it never leaves your device or reaches a server. - Anonymized analytics. Vercel Web Analytics reports aggregate page-view counts; it isn't tied to your name, email, or any profile.
Donations
Donations are processed entirely by Haku, a third-party fundraising platform — this site never sees, handles, or stores any payment or card information. The public donor list shown on this site only reflects names or dedications donors already chose to display publicly on the Haku fundraiser page; anyone who gave anonymously stays anonymous here too.
Third-party embeds
A handful of pieces on this site are loaded from other companies, each governed by its own privacy policy, not this one: the Instagram feed and Facebook Page plugin on Community, Google Maps on the course map, and the UserWay accessibility toolbar available from the nav bar on every page. Any of these may set their own cookies.
Your choices
The theme toggle and accessibility toolbar are both fully optional. If you'd rather not be counted in page-view analytics, blocking scripts in your browser works the same here as anywhere else. If you want a comment removed or have any other question about your data, contact Kevin directly — every message gets read.
